The quality of the cuisine on the Costa Blanca is a combination of the products from the land and the Mediterranean sea.
Many civilizations have lived in this area (celts, iberos, greeks, romans, muslims,….) civilizations which have all left their mark on the gastronomy making it a delight to the palate.

You can try typical dishes of the area in each of the villages, and also homemade pastries and deserts. There are the famous “Jijona” ice-creams which are still made traditionally which has the genuine “Nougat” ice-cream, made with almonds of the region.

 

 
 

 


The gastronomy of the Costa Blanca is the typical Mediterranean diet, one of the healthiest and well-balanced diets know to man. A diet which due to the climate on the Costa Blanca is rich in fish, vegetables, olive-oil, rice and fruit.
Ingredients which are used to prepare the typical dishes of the region are such as Paella Valenciana, Arroz Negro (black rice), Arroz al horno (Oven baked rice), Arroz a banda (fish and rice stew), Arroz del Señoret (Prince-s rice).
These not being the only specialties inland, you can also taste succulent lamb chops, rabbit in garlic, roast leg of lamb with garlic and fresh rosemary and also home made sausages and black puddings.
While on the Costa Blanca you can delight the palate with the ample wines an offer from the region giving Jalon wine a special mention due to its quality and bouquet.
